I
went fishing to a lake in north Wales about a month ago. I met
another fisherman before I started fishing, we talked for some
time. Before long we got round to talking about flies and I
told him that I tied my own flies and to my surprise so did
he.
Well that was another half an hour talk. By this time an hour
had passed and I said well never catch any fish talking hear.
He laughed and said never mind it was worth coming just to have
this chat. Yes I said it sure was then we both said together
lets start fishing. We went down to the lake side but before
we started fishing I said we have been talking for an hour and
I don’t even now your name. He said my name is bob my
name is ray. Then we both shook hands and said lets start fishing.
Bob asked me what flies I was using I said nymphs he said that
he was using buzzers. Then we started fishing bob was straight
into a fish it was a nice rainbow of about 4 LB then about 15
min's later he was into another this one was about 2 LB. I said
this must be your lucky day bob then he said this usually happens
to me I usually get my limit of fish within about 3 hours. By
this time wed been fishing for about two hours and bob had caught
four nice rainbows. And id caught nothing then bob said why
don’t you try some buzzers ray. Ok I said then I changed
my flies to buzzers and started fishing again. I fished for
about another hour and a half but still without any luck. By
this time bob had stopped fishing and came up to me and said
well ray its time for me to go now I’ve caught my limit
of fish. I stopped for a while and asked him whats your secret
bob. He said I’ve got a secret ingredient in my buzzers.
I asked him if he minded sharing it with me well ray he said
I don’t mind a bit mate. Then he told me that his secret
ingredient was ultra violet nail varnish. He said you go and
buy some and then tie some buzzers after you’ve tied them
get you’re U.V.VARNISH and give them about four coats
of the varnish and leave them to dry. And that’s my secret
ingredient the next day I went out and bought some of this U.V.VARNISH.
I didn’t half get some funny looks well what the hell
if it works. I took it home then I tied a few buzzers then I
put four coats of the varnish on them and left them to dry.
A couple of days later I went fishing again to the same lake
bob was not there this time, never mind. I’m sure to see
him again some other time anyway I put the buzzers on and started
fishing and to my surprise after about five minutes had passed
I was into a fish it was a five pound rainbow trout and about
half an hour later I was into another this one was about a three
pound and then to my surprise after about another twenty minutes
I was into yet another this one was not at big only about two
pound. Anyway by that time id been fishing for about an hour
and a half and caught three fish I fished on for about another
two hours. And got my limit of fish for the day six great fish
thanks to bob and his secret ingredient Im sure it was that
ULTRA.VIOLET.NAIL.VARNISH. Tanks to bob we can all try this
new varnish now. You won’t get many that will share their
secrets with you but bob is one of the best. Well happy tying
