Top tips for Buzzer fishing

TIP 1
LOOK FOR STILL CALM WATER
Still calm water will give you more control over your flies and also will help with detection

TIP 2
WATCH OUT FOR BIRDS
Watch out for gulls and other birds skimming the water they are probably after hatching buzzers on the top of the water

TIP 3
LOOK FOR FISH RISING TO THE SURFACE OF THE WATER
Keep your eyes open for fish rising to the top of the water at all times fish that are taking flies off the surface of the water will also take your buzzers

TIP 4
THINK PRESENTATION
Cast as far as you can and as straight as you can but try not to disturb the water too much by splashing the line on the water

TIP 5
TRY DIFFERENT COLOURS OF BUZZERS
Always use the darkest coloured buzzers at the point going lighter the further up the leader you go, try black or a very dark colour at the point, an olive preferably dark for the middle dropper and ginger or brown at the top dropper this will cover all your options

TIP 6
LOOK AROUND FOR CLUES
When you arrive at the lake side look around for clues look at spiders webs and make a note of the different coloured flies and different sizes of them in the webs

TIP 7
KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH YOUR BUZZERS
Let the flies settle on the water pull in very slow to lift them up, use a slow figure of eight to retrieve, start slower than an inch a second and then if nothing happens retrieve a bit faster and then vary it until you catch a fish and then stick to that retrieve

TIP 8
USING A SINGLE FLY
We that fish with buzzers can often get pre-occupied with fishing a team of flies, if the fish are buzzer feeding you may catch two at the same time this could result in the leader breaking, if this happens take off the dropper flies and fish a single fly this way you’ve got more of a chance of landing the fish
